And I apparently have gotten used to the modded Warhammer animations because the new HBS one, with it hunching forward and only swinging its arms a tiny amount, is now reminding me of an old man shuffling their feet across a room like the old Tim Conway "Oldest Man" bits. And I'm not a real fan of the new missile contrails. The new fighting machines arent listed in the announcement, but a list of eight mechs appears on a readout in the trailer and thats probably not a coincidence. (Tho I was quite pleased to see the LAC/10, AC/15, and LAC/20 under the 'Unofficial' equipment list.) Ill stick with SSW and the occasional completely-by-hand design, for now. Im still holding out for custom weapons and equipment, personally. Though they did go rather exaggerated on the initial impact flinching. Re: Mech sheet program (like Heavymetal pro) MML and Machine Shop have what most people will need.

Though I am liking most of the new animations they've added for things like knockdowns and such.

I didn't get much play time yet since I was sorting out newly broken mods crashing the game, but so far the Heavy Metal mechs seem to be exceedingly common in missions. I think that was done because those two were mentioned in the original kickstarter. That's cool that they've expanded at least some of the mechs for everyone. My main annoyance with it besides the Hollywoodian science is that it's just the sort of gamble attack I tend to personally hate - if it hits it blows the target up real good, if it misses my heat bar will be half full and nothing else happens. Now I can get 125 damage from it fairly easily. (ETA: It should be very good in Warhammer with the +20% energy weapon perk)Īlso realized that I should put my Coil-M in my Jenner, which I promptly did. Probably (depending on what rare variants it has) won't be using it in any optimized minmax mech build but it's fun enough for now, and as an added bonus the ball lightning shotgun effect just looks cool.

It's better than the regular PPC but it still runs very hot. I've been using one on my starter Vindicator since Yang found it in a crate that fell of a space truck. All in all a worthwhile addition to your arsenal, especially if you want to add some energy punch to a chassis that doesn't support many energy weapons. Shotgun effect means you're spreading damage around more, but medium lasers are not known for their high single-location firepower. Id say the HGN-733 is the next best after that, with the Heavy Metal coming in. They're almost as (in)-efficient heat-wise as a medium laser, but with significantly more range. The Highlander has been my absolute favorite since MechCommander 2.
